Baseball Bested in Pair of Road Games

Moline and Palatine, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell short in a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.

The Spartans move to 4-12 in their overall season.

Game One: Elgin 5, Black Hawk 9

Wyatt Sabalaskey hit his second home run of the season to bring in a run and an RBI while Nathan Gerritsen tripled to bring in two runs. Connor Lund and Ryan Schneider tallied one RBI with one hit.

Josh Caccia and Jack Bennett combined for three strikeouts from the mound.

Game Two: Elgin 2, Black Hawk 13

Sabalaskey tripled in the first inning to bring in the two runs of the day.

Brendan Campbell recorded four strikeouts in three innings. Miguel Rodriguez and Sam Cutinello each pitched one inning of relief.

Game Three: Elgin 10, Harper 11

Schneider and Sabalaskey each registered one run on one hit with three RBI. Lund tallied a team-high three hits with a triple and Matthew Brunscheen recorded two hits with a double.

Leth Pearson collected five strikeouts in four innings, Matthew Rosado struck out three batters in 1.2 innings and Nic DiMarzio forced a fly out to secure the last out of the sixth inning.

Game Four: Elgin 4, Harper 6

Colin Swalley and Brunscheen recorded their first home runs of the season as they each tallied two RBI.

The Spartans host DuPage in their home opener on Wednesday, March 25. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
