Rockford, Ill. - The Elgin Community College volleyball team won its first match of the season at the Opening Weekend Tournament on Sunday.

The Spartans move to 1-3 in their overall season.

Game One: Macomb 3, Elgin 0

Team leaders included Ireland Mahoney in kills (three), Sydney Pieron in assists (seven), Emma Turner and Pieron in service asses (two), Bryanna Sanchez in digs (seven), Alyssa Wysuph in blocks (one) and Turner in points (four).

Game Two: Edison State 3, Elgin 0

Team leaders included Mia Jones in kills (six), Pieron in assists (seven), Anna Van Hauter in service aces (two), Sanchez in digs (10), Wysuph in blocks (two) and Jones in points (six).

Game Three: Dakota College at Bottineau 2, Elgin 3

ECC won the first two sets with DCB taking the next two to force the set five, which Elgin won 15-13.

Team leaders included Jones in kills (13), Pieron in assists (26), Sanchez in service aces (three) and digs (20), Wysuph and Mahoney in blocks (one) and Jones in points (13).

Game Four: Glen Oaks 3, Elgin 1

Glen Oaks won the first two sets and ECC took the third to force set four.

Team leaders included Jones in kills (nine), Pieron in assists (26), Katey Mitchell in service aces (four), Sanchez in digs (12), Turner and Wysuph in blocks (one) and Jones in points (10).

The Spartans open conference play at home against Prairie State on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
