Women's Basketball Splits Conference Games

Chicago Heights and Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team split its conference opening games on Tuesday and Thursday.

The Spartans move to 8-9 overall and 1-1 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play.

Jan. 6: ECC 60, Prairie State 55

Christiana Glover led Elgin with 12 points, adding four rebounds, while Heaven Sims contributed eight points and a team-high six assists to go with four rebounds. Mazaiah Marc posted a double-double with 13 rebounds and seven points, three assists and two steals. Tori Ruffin

added a season-high seven blocks with six points and five rebounds, and Sami Carlino tallied nine points and six rebounds.

Jan. 8: Lake County 66, ECC 64

The Spartans outrebounded the CLC 58–49 and held them to 31.4 percent shooting from the field.

Glover recorded a season-best 28 points while knocking down eight 3-pointers, eight rebounds and a block. Sims followed with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Marc posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Tori Ruffin grabbed 12 rebounds rwith two assists.

The Spartans host Oakton on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
