Elgin, Ill. and Milwaukee, Wis. - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team picked up three wins this week.
The Spartans improve to 4-3 in their overall season.
Nov. 11: Blackhawk 54, Elgin 84
The Spartans showcased a well-rounded offensive attack with four players scoring in double figures. Abigail Esparza powered the effort with a game-high 22 points, knocking down six 3-pointers while adding three rebounds and two assists. Mazaiah Marc recorded 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals in a standout performance.
Alisea Doan continued her strong play with 15 points and five assists while Tori Ruffin grabbed 12 rebounds with seven points and a block.
Elgin finished with 50 total rebounds including 17 on the offensive glass. The Spartans moved the ball effectively as well, totaling 16 assists while shooting an efficient 50 percent from the field and from three-point range.
Christiana Glover provided key contributions off the bench with 12 points and three assists.
Nov. 13: Elgin 67, Milwaukee Area 50
Elgin limited the Stormers to 13 points or fewer in three of the four quarters while dominating the glass with a 54–34 rebounding advantage. Marc led the team with 19 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for a double-double, while adding four assists and two steals.
Glover tallied 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including six made threes. Ruffin continued her defensive presence with nine rebounds and three blocks, while Heaven Sims contributed eight boards and six points. Asha Gray and Esparza each added six points, and the Spartans tallied 21 offensive rebounds.
Elgin also showcased sharp passing with 19 team assists.
