Elgin, Ill., Jan. 27, 2022 - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team fell 65-37 to McHenry on Thursday night.

The Spartans dip to 3-15 overall and 0-7 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference play as the Scots improve to 10-9 and 3-3.

Layla Tiongco led the team with 13 points as Jessie Dumoulin registered a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Ariann Franco grabbed a team-high four steals.

The team struggled to connect shots as they trailed 16-2 in the first quarter and 28-13 entering halftime.

Elgin found its most successful quarter in the fourth, scoring a game-high 16 points, despite the loss.

The Spartans travel to Sugar Grove, Ill. to face Waubonsee on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
