Elgin, Ill., Dec. 7, 2021 - The Elgin Community College women's basketball team fell 64-57 to Madison College on Tuesday night.
The Spartans dip to 2-5 as the Wolfpack moves to 2-8.
ECC was limited to five players for the entirety of the game.
Jessie Dumoulin led the group in points with 23. Takara Campbell registered her first double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and a team-high five steals.
The Spartans struggled to get things rolling in the first seven minutes, trailing 12-1. They tightened it up to 18-10 to wrap the first quarter.
Elgin continued chipping away at the deficit, including a 14-5 swing in the middle of the next quarter. Dumoulin hit a three-pointer to tie it up at 29-29 at half, as the women held Madison to just 11 points in the second quarter.
ECC continued to hang tough in the first five minutes after halftime, but with no relief, the Wolfpack held them scorless for 10 points to lead 49-41 at the end of the third.
The Spartans found themselves as close as five points with 2:44 remaining, but were unable to get any closer as they were edged 64-57.
The women are back on the road to face Bryant & Stratton on Friday at 6 p.m.
