Elgin and Galesburg, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team picked up two conference wins and fell by just four to Carl Sandburg this week.
The Spartans improve 11-13 overall and 5-3 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play.
Jan. 27: Moraine Valley 64, Elgin 69
ECC dominated the first half, holding the Cyclones to a 35-19 advantage.
Davee Flowers posted his fifth double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring in double-digits were Unique Shaw (13), Xavior Gonzalez (12) and Maddox Hollian (11).
Jan. 29: Prairie State 89, Elgin 99
Hollian, Flowers and Shaw each scored 15 points or more with Jaylen Wells collecting 11.
Derek Clark hit the go-ahead three pointer to lead by three with six seconds remaining on the clock. Flowers was fouled and hit both free throws for the five point victory.
Jan. 31: Elgin 68, Carl Sandburg 72
Elgin trailed by 10 at halftime and held the Chargers to just 29 points in the second half but were unable to make it up as they fell by four points.
Flowers, Hollian and Shaw each scored in the double digits for the third-straight game.
Next up, the Spartans are on the road to take on Lake County on Tuesday and Oakton on Thursday. Both games' tip-offs are slated for 7:15 p.m.
