Jan. 13-17: Men's Basketball Goes 2-1

Elgin, Ill. and Ottumwa, Iowa - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team won a pair of conference games and fell to a nationally ranked Indian Hills on Saturday.

The Spartans improve to 8-10 overall and 2-2 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play.

Jan. 13: Oakton 63, Elgin 83

ECC shot 40.5 percent from the field and dominated the paint and held Oakton to 33.3 percent shooting.

Maddox Hollian led the Spartans with a game-high 22 points, adding four rebounds and three assists. Xavior Gonzalez followed with 17 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, while Davee Flowers contributed 15 points and a team-high 13 rebounds for a double-double. Jaylen Wells added 13 points and seven rebounds.

Elgin controlled the boards with a 49–42 rebounding advantage and forced 21 Oakton turnovers.

Jan. 15: McHenry 76, Elgin 79

Flowers led the team with 28 points, six steals, four assists and hit the game-winning three-pointer. Hollian grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Jan. 17: Elgin 81, No. 12 Indian Hills 116

Hollian and Flowers combined for 48 points against nationally ranked Indian Hills on Saturday night.

The Spartans are back on the road to face Waubonsee on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
