Spartans Battle No. 10 South Suburban in 92–81 Loss

South Holland, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team fell 92–81 to No. 10 South Suburban on Thursday night.

The Spartans move to 6-5 in their overall season.

Davee Flowers led the team with 32 points on 14-for-25 shooting and added seven rebounds, four assists and five steals.

Maddox Hollian delivered his best performance of the season with seven three-pointers on his way to 29 points.

Xavior Gonzalez chipped in 12 points, two assists, two rebounds, and a steal while attacking the basket and helping facilitate ball movement. Derek Clark contributed three assists and a steady perimeter defense.

Elgin shot an impressive 46.3 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from three (13 made threes)—one of its best long-range performances of the year. ECC also collected 28 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, to stay competitive against one of the NJCAA's toughest defensive squads.

The Spartans are back on the road to face No. 1 Vincennes on Saturday at 6 p.m.
