St. Petersburg and Fort Myers, Fla. - The Elgin Community College men's basketball team went 1-2 against NJCAA Division I competition this week.
The Spartans move to 6-3 in their overall season.
Nov. 19: ECC 84, St. Petersburg 63
Davee Flowers led the team with a game-high 27 points, knocking down five threes while adding eight rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Unique Shaw provided a major spark off the bench, scoring 15 points on a perfect 5-for-7 from the three-point live in the first half.
Xavior Gonzalez and Maddox Hollian contributed 11 points each, with Hollian adding five rebounds and four steals. Jaylen Wells chipped in six points, four steals and team-best four blocks.
The Spartans shot 44 percent from the field and an impressive 16-of-37 from three-point range.
Nov. 20: ECC 67, Miami Dade 84
Gonzalez led the Spartans with 22 points while adding four assists and three rebounds. Hollian provided 18 points and four rebounds, knocking down a pair of threes. Flowers added 13 points and seven rebounds, and Derek Clark chipped in five points and three boards.
Elgin battled on the glass, collecting 28 rebounds, but Miami Dade's offensive runs proved difficult to overcome as the Spartans were held to 26-of-61 shooting from the field.
Nov. 21: ECC 82, Florida Southwestern State
The Spartans came out firing, hanging 51 first-half points on the Buccaneers and keeping the game within reach deep into the second half. Flowers delivered a standout performance, pouring in 30 points while knocking down five threes and adding five rebounds and four assists.
Gonzalez continued his strong play with 20 points, three assists, and five steals, showcasing his two-way impact. Immanuel Brown stepped up with 14 points and a pair of threes, and Hollian added 10 points and six rebounds.
Despite the loss, the Spartans shot 41 percent from the field, hit 11 three-pointers, and matched FSW's intensity throughout the game.
The Spartans host Rock Valley on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for their final home game of 2025.
