Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team defeated No. 11 Kankakee 2-1 on Thursday afternoon and improve to 29-10 this season.
The Spartans featured eight pitchers in 10 innings, with Jim Bluemling earning the win. He pitched the final two innings and only allowed one hit.
Aidan Stratton made the start and went two innings, followed by Casey Farrell, Justin Ceisel, Troy Petty, Calvin Bredlau, Sean Riordan and Lucas Aguirre.
Kankakee scored one run in the top of the second inning and held onto the lead until Elgin tied it up in the bottom of the sixth.
Aiden Kashuba and Matthew Brunscheen singled and advanced to second and third on Chris Lara's sacrifice. An error in the infield allowed Lara to get on base and Kashuba to score the tying run.
ECC loaded the bases in the tenth with walks for Nick Weaver and Cole Clemens and Kashuba being hit by a pitch. Brunscheen hit a ground ball to secure the 2-1 walk-off win.
The Spartans wrap conference play on Saturday at Waubonsee.
