Rockford, Ill. - The Elgin Community College volleyball team split a pair of games at the Rock Valley Invite on Friday.

The Spartans move to 7-16 overall in its season.

Game 1: Rock Valley 3, Elgin 0

Leah Murphy led the team in kills (nine), digs (10) and points (10) with Cece Gonzales tallying 12 assists.

ECC fell 25-13, 25-15 and 25-11 in three sets.

Game 2: Elgin 3, Spoon River 1

Team leaders included Leah Murphy in kills (15) and points (17), Cece Gonzales in assists (32) and digs (17) Guadalupe Barrera in service acces (five) and Adeena Baluyut in blocks (seven).

The Spartans are back on the road to face McHenry on Monday at 6 p.m.
