Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College volleyball team fell 3-1 to No. 12 McHenry on Wednesday night.

The Spartans move to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) competition as the Scots improve to 11-4 and 2-1.

Leah Murphy led the team in points (15), kills (12) and blocks (two). Cassie Pitte tallied nine kills and a team-high 11 digs and Cece Gonzales recorded 24 assists.

ECC was just edged 25-22 in the first set before falling short 25-14 in the second.

The women pulled off a 25-23 win in the third to push the game to another set before falling 25-18 in the fourth and final set.

The Spartans travel to Grayslake to face the College of Lake County on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
