Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College volleyball team defeated the eighth-ranked program in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III, Harper, on Tuesday night.

The team registered 71 digs, 52 kills and 48 assists in the five-set thriller.

Mackenzie Field led the team in kills with 16 as Leah Murphy recorded the team-high in points (22) and solo blocks (3). Cassie Pitte tallied the highest number of digs with 19.

The team won the first two sets before falling in the next two. ECC brought its momemtum back in the fifth and final set to clinch the victory.

The Spartans host Dominican University on Thursday at 6 p.m.
