Elgin, Ill., Sept. 22, 2021 - The Elgin Community College women's volleyball team earned its second win of the season, and first Skyway Intercollegiate Collegiate COnference (ISCC) win, with a 3-0 win over Prairie State.
The Spartans improve to 2-14 as the Pioneers dip to 0-4.
The women scored seven unanswered points to begin the first set, followed by back-to-back points from Prairie State. Elgin continued its hot streak with eight more uncontested points. Prairie State found some rythm, but the Spartans finished it out to take the set 25-9.
ECC had some early errors to make the second set closer between the two teams, but the women were able to get back on track for 13-straight points before wrapping it up for a 25-11 win.
The third set echoed the first with seven-straight points. After one point from Prairie State, ECC scored 12 unanswered for a 19-2 lead before taking the third and final set 25-4 for the game victory.
The Spartans are back on the road to take on Morton College on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
