Elgin, Ill., Sept. 15, 2021 - The Elgin Community College volleyball team opened home play wth a 3-0 loss to Lake County on Wednesday night.

The Spartans dip to 0-9 as the Lancers move to 4-5 on the season.

The women had a hard fought first set, keeping within a few points of LCC until the Lancers pulled away for a 25-18 loss.

ECC trailed early in the second, but rallied after a timeout for five-straight points.  Lake County would pull away to eventually take the set 25-16.

The Spartans held a lead early in the third for the first time since the opening set. They were unable to hold the momentum as the Lancers took the third and final set 25-12.

The team is set to compete at the Region IV Crossover at Waubonsee starting on Friday.
