Elgin, Ill., Nov. 3, 2021 – The Elgin Community College women's soccer team had two student-athletes earn All-Conference and All-Region Honors.
Sophomore captain Natalie McGinnis was named First Team All-Conference while first-year goalkeeper Joana Mercado earned Second Team All-Conference and All-Region status.
Despite missing the beginning of the season due to an injury, McGinnis made eight starts in 10 game appearances. She tallied four goals and five assists for 13 points, tied for second most on the team.
Mercado started 12 of 13 games played and totaled 945 minutes in the net. She ranks first in Region IV in saves (136) and fourth in save percentage (.791).
The Spartans concluded the 2021 season with a 6-9-1 record.
