Elgin, Ill., Oct. 6, 2021 - The Elgin Community College women's soccer team clinched a thrilling 2-1 victory over Moraine Valley on Wednesday.

The Spartans improve to 5-5-1 as the Cyclones dip to 4-3.

The entire game was back and forth between the teams, as never appeared to have the clear advantage.

Natalie McGinnis found the back of the net after a foul at 29:33 to take the 1-0 lead.

The Cyclones quickly countered just three minutes later with a goal to the upper left of the net.

Goalkeeper Joana Mercado kept attacks at bay with multiple saves, especially in the second half.

McGinnis hit the game-winner at 72:47 as the teams continued to battle until the end of the game as Elgin pulled off the 2-1 win.

The Spartans continue action at home with a game against Illinois Valley on Saturday at 11 a.m.
