Softball Edged at Morton

Cicero, Ill. - The Elgin Community College softball team came up just short in two games at Morton on Tuesday.

The Spartans move to 0-14 in their overall season.

Game One: ECC 14, MC 15

 

Elgin scored the most runs in a single game this season in the high-scoring affair.

Jamyra Thomas led the team in hits with four as herself, Sydney Haughs Kaylee Shin, Maile Fuller and Zoie Adamson collected two RBI. Sophia Espolt, Zoe Kaler, Haughs, Thomas and Shin scored two runs apiece.

The women had a 14-10 lead entering the bottom of the seventh, but could not hold off Morton as they fell in a 14-15 walk-off.

Game Two: ECC 3, Morton 11

Nica Hein recorded two strikeouts in her three innings on the mound.

Thomas scored two runs while Shin brought in the third. Espolt, Kaler, Thomas, Shin and Alonzo recorded one hit as Alonzo and Fuller tallied one RBI each.

The Spartans host Oakton for a doubleheader on Thursday at 3 p.m.
