Rosemont, Ill. - The Elgin Community College softball team clinched its first win of the 2022 season with a 19-1 victory over Oakton on Thursday.

Haley Geistler earned the win in the pitchers circle in five innings and eight strikeouts.

Alexis Peterson went 5-for-5 at the plate with two runs on five hits and four RBI. Geistler, Hailey Hall and Sarah Kinney recorded multiple runs on the day.

ECC scored nine runs in the first inning, four in the second and five in the fifth to run away with the lead.

The Spartans travel to Malta, Ill. to face Kishwaukee in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
