Softball Drops Two at Joliet

Joliet, Ill. - The Elgin Community College softball team fell 18-1 and 22-6 to Joliet Junior College on Tuesday.

The Spartans dip to 0-6 as the Wolves improve to 5-12.

Game 1: Elgin 1, Joliet 18

Haley Geistler struckout five batters from the pitcher's circle. Sharon Dooley, Geistler, Sarah Kinney, Mattea Mangiaracin, Alexis Peterson and Natalie Stumph registered one hit in the game.

Joliet had a strong offensive showing, scoring 14 runs in three innings.

Elgin connected hits in the fourth inning when Kinney singled on a pop fly and advanced to third on Dooley's single. Mangiaracin brought Kinney home with a double to right field for the lone run of the game.

The Wolves scored four more runs in the bottom of the inning for the 18-1 victory over the Spartans.

Game 2: Elgin 6, Joliet 22

The Spartans travel to Des Plaines, Ill. to face Oakton in the first Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) game of the season on Thursday at 3 p.m.
