Rosement, Ill. - The Elgin Community College softball team fell to South Suburban twice on the final day of the N4C Softball Dome Jamboree on Sunday.
Game 1: South Suburban 12, Elgin 3
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the second inning after a slew of errors from Elgin.
SSC had a big third inning with an additional eight runs, including two doubles, two triples and a home run for the 11-0 lead.
Alexis Peterson got the offense rolling in the bottom of the inning with a stand-up double to center field. Natalie Stumph also hit a double to advance Peterson to third. Sarah Kinney's groundout to first allowed Peterson to cross home plate for the first Spartan run of the game. Stumph scored the second run with a single from Daisy Fuentes.
South Suburban scored its 12th run in the fifth inning.
The Spartans ended the game with a single from Peterson and RBI double from Stumph for the 12-3 loss.
Game 2: South Suburban 10, Elgin 2
SSC took a commanding 8-0 lead at the top of the fifth inning.
Terin King doubled followed by a single from Peterson. A defensive error gave King room to cross home plate to push the game into seven innings.
South Suburban scored two more runs in the seventh for its 10 total runs.
Alexis Peterson doubled to left and scored off of a fielding error for the 10-2 final score.
The Spartans have a few weeks off before traveling to face Joliet Junior College on March 29.
