Rosemont, Ill. - The Elgin Community College softball team opened its season with losses to Madison College and Sauk Valley Community College on Saturday night.
Game 1: Madison 14, Elgin 0
The Wolfpack came out strong, scoring five runs in the first inning.
Haley Geistler limited the offense to one run in the second, but the team was unable to contain the offense as it scored six runs in the third inning.
The Spartans ultimately fell 14-0 at the end of the fifth inning.
Game 2: Sauk Valley 11, Elgin 2
SVCC put two runs on the board after back-to-back singles followed by a triple to advance the runners home.
The Eagles lit up its offense in the second inning with seven runs and scored two in the third for 11 total runs.
Terin King and Mattea Mangiaracin earned walks to put them on base in the third inning. Each advanced one base on a passed ball. Alexis Nally and Sarah Kinney registered their first RBIs with grounds outs to the shortstop to push the runners home.
The Spartans face South Suburban for a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
