Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer team defeated Oakton 4-2 in the Region 4 Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans improve to 12-4-4 in their overall season.

Jairo Sanchez scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Nick Prus in the 15th minute. Vinnie Aguirre was assisted by Sanchez at the 43:55 mark to enter halftime with a 2-0 advantage.

Aguirre scored again in the 49th with Prus recording his second assist of the game. Ariel Gomez registered the fourth goal of the game with a penalty kick at 58:31.

Oakton found two late goals but Elgin was able to hang on and secure the 4-2 victory.

The Spartans will be on the road to face No. 12 Madison on Tuesday for the Region 4 Semifinals. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m.
