Cicero, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer team was narrowly edged 1-0 by returning national-runner up Morton on Thursday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play as the Pioneers improve to 2-2-1 and 1-0.

Elgin outplayed Morton, recording 16 shots to their zero, including four shots on goal.

Iker Villagomez recorded six saves in the contest as Joel Gutierrez led the offense with five shots, including two on goal.

Morton's sole goal game in the 71st minute on a free kick for the 1-0 final score.

The Spartans are back on the road to face Daley on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
