Chicago Heights, Ill. - The Elgin Community College men's soccer team was edged 2-1 by No. 6 Prairie State on Thursday.

The Spartans move to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) competition as the Pioneers improve to 5-0 and 1-0.

Prairie State scored back-to-back goals in the 19th minute to take an early 2-0 lead.

Jesus Alonso scored with an assist from Ruben Guadalajara in the 32nd minute to tighten the game.

Neither team was able to capitalize on any opportunities in the second half to result in a 2-1 loss for ECC.

The Spartans travel to River Grove, Ill. on Saturday to face No. 12 Triton.
