Myrtle Beach, SC - The Elgin Community College baseball team played in five games during their Spring Break trip March 13-15.
The Spartans went 2-3 in South Carolina and move to 4-8 in their overall record.
Game One: Salem 0, Elgin 12
Josh Caccia earned his first win of the season as he pitched six innings and recorded eight strikeouts.
Reed Burns led the offense with one run on three hits and three RBI. Connor Lund brought in three runs with Brennan Coyle and Wyatt Sabalaskey scoring two apiece. Ryan Schneider, Lund and Sabalaskey each collected two RBI.
Game Two: Salem 1, Elgin 2
Brendan Campbell recorded a win with five strikeouts while Matthew Rosado picked up his second save of the season.
Coyle tallied two hits with an RBI and Austin Daubenmire registered one run on two hits.
Game Three: Elgin 2, Garrett 7
Leth Pearson registered two strikeouts in 3.1 innings as Kyle Wayda collected three in 2.2 innings.
Nathan Gerritsen and Lund scored the two runs as Coyle registered two hits and Jack Perrone and Gerritsen had one each.
Game Four: Elgin 2, Mercer 5
Spencer Drummond made the start tallied four strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Nic DiMarzio came in for 2.1 innings of relief and struckout five of his 11 batters.
Coyle, Gerritsen, Sabalaskey and Enzo Novelli recorded hits with Lund led the team with three.
Game Five: Elgin 5, Mercer 6
Alex Schiefer, Max Woodward, Casey Kaszniak and Brady Rickert made appearances on the mound. Schiefer and Kaszniak registered three strikeouts each and Rickert struck out the two batters he faced.
Lund and Rosado recorded single RBIs, Matthew Brunscheen and Carter Novelli tallied two runs apiece with Daubenmire scoring one.
The Spartans resume play at Black Hawk on Friday, March 20 at 2 p.m.
