Baseball Receiving Votes in NJCAA DII Preseason Rankings

The Elgin Community College baseball team is receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Preseason Rankings.

ECC returns after an outstanding 2025 season where the men recorded a 41-14 record and reached the NJCAA Region 4 DII/Midwest District Championships.

Key returners include pitcher Josh Caccia, who earned Honorable Mention All-America with a 10-0 record and ranked first in ERA (1.27) and tenth in wins in all of Division II. Caccia was also selected as First Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference and earned the title of Conference Pitcher of the Year.

Leth Pearson earned First Team All-Conference recoginition for his 3-0 record in 17 innings with a 1.59 earned run average in conference play. He went 7-0 and a 2.81 ERA throughout the season.

Brendan Campbell made seven starts and earned four wins while Calvin Bredlau made 11 game appearances. Jack Bennett and Miguel Rodriguez also return to the mound this season.

Matthew Brunscheen led the freshman hitters last season with 23 runs, 23 hits, 20 runs, 13 stolen bases and .450 on base percentage.

Following Brunscheen in stats categories included Carter Novelli in runs, hits, RBI, batting average and on-base percentage and Antonio Alanis in RBI and stolen bases. Enzo Novelli was third in batting average and hits while Wyatt Sabalaskey finished third in on-base percentage.

The Spartans open their season at the 2026 Prep Baseball JUCO Invitational in Tennessee on February 27.
