Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team suffered a 10-2 loss to South Suburban on Wednesday afternoon.
The Spartans move to 17-24 in their overall season.
Gavin Crofoot led the offense with one run and one RBI as Charlie Jury earned an RBI and Logan Riley brought in a run. Jaden Jones pitched five innings and tallied five strikeouts. Joe Becker came in for relief and totaled three strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
South Suburban scored runs in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead.
Elgin countered in the bottom of the third with one run. Crofoot singled and scored a run on Jury's double to left field.
The Bulldogs scored two in the fourth to extend their lead to 4-1.
Riley hit a single in the bottom of the inning and advanced to second on Jack Keck's walk. Crofoot's single pushed Riley across home plate to score the Spartans' second run of the game.
SSC scored two runs in the fifth and four in the seventh for the 10-2 ECC loss.
The Spartans host No. 8 Joliet for a single game on Thursday at 3 p.m.
