Sunday Split for Baseball

Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team split a pair of games with Olive-Harvey on Sunday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 16-22 in their overall season.

Game 1: OHC 8, ECC 6

Gavin Crofoot led the way, going 3-for-4 with three singles, two RBI and one run. Logan Riley also collected two RBI. On the pitching staff, Isaac Kopalchick tallied five strikeouts in 3.2 innings with Luke Cano registering two.

Crofoot got things rolling with a single to short and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Erik Teran II and Charlie Jury had back-to-back walks to load up the bases. Riley hit it into a two-run single to put the first two runs on the board.

Josh Collins led off the second inning with his first triple of the season. A single from Crofoot put the Spartans up 0-3.

Olive-Harvey scored seven runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take an 8-3 advantage.

Elgin scored three runs in the sixth, but were unable to makeup the deficit as they fell 8-6.

Game 2: OHC 2, ECC 4

Matt Reuscher earned his second win of the season as he tallied three strikeouts in five innings. Adrian Ruiz made the save by not allowing any hits in the  Teran recorded a team-high two RBI.

OHC scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning before ECC countered with three of its own.

Crofoot singled and made it to third on Ryan Nelson's single to center field followed by a two-run double from Teran. Jury's fly out advanced Teran to third base and he scored on Nathan Euliano's groundout.

Riley made it on base after getting hit by a pitch to lead off the fourth inning. Max Hertel's single and an error advanced Riley to third with him scoring on Ryan Caccia's fielder's choice.

Olive-Harvey scored one run in the fifth to make it a 4-2 game.

Adrian Ruiz came in in the top of the seventh and earned the save with two strikeouts.

The Spartans are back on the road to face College of DuPage for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
