Cicero, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team split a pair of games at Morton on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans move to 15-21 overall and 6-8 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play as the Panthers move to 26-14 and 8-6.
Game 1: ECC 2, MC 12
Charlie Jury led the offense with one run and one RBI. Frank Szymanski made the start and tallied four strikeouts in 3.1 innings.
Elgin scored its two runs in the first inning. Erik Teran II earned a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Charlie Jury singled to right field to send Teran home before scoring on Nathan Euliano's hit.
Morton totaled 12 runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth to end the game early.
Game 2: ECC 1, MC 0
Jaden Alberson went all seven innings to earn the win with eight strikeouts.
ECC scored the sole run of the game in the third inning. Logan Riley got on base from an error and made it to second on Josh Genz's hit. Scott Emma grounded into a fielder's choice with an error in the infield allowing Riley to score.
The game continued to be a pitching dual as Elgin came out on top with the 1-0 victory.
The Spartans host Olive-Harvey for a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at noon.
