Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team clinched a 13-3 victory over Kankakee on Thursday afternoon.
The Spartans improve to 14-20 overall.
Jaden Jones earned his second win of the season as he pitched six innings and recorded seven strikeouts. Ryan Nelson led the team with five RBI with a grand slam and a triple. Erik Teran II tallied a team-high five runs.
Gavin Crofoot led things off with a single and scored the first run of the game on Teran's double to center field. Teran scored on an error after Nathan Euliano's at bat with Euliano scoring on Nelson's triple for an early 0-3 lead.
Kankakee scored one in the third and fourth but Elgin countered in the bottom of each inning.
Teran scored on Logan Riley's single to left field in the third and followed by four runs in the fourth. Teran hit his fourth home run of the season followed by a two-run homer from Euliano, his first of the season. Nelson singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch to make it an 8-2 game.
KCC scored its third run in the top of the fifth.
Teran reached on a passed ball, Charlie Jury singled and Euliano walked to load the bases. Nelson hits a grand slam on the third pitch he saw to extend the lead to 12-3 after five innings.
Teran doubled in the sixth and scored on Patrick Nelson's double for the 13-3 final score.
