Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team dropped a pair of games to Lake County on Monday afternoon.
The Spartans move to 8-16 overall and 1-5 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) as the Lancers move to 16-8 and 4-2.
Game 1: CLC 8, ECC 6
Gavin Crofoot led the offense with two runs, four RBI, a home run and a double. Erik Teran II also recorded a home run with two RBI. Drew Piaskowy started and recorded four strikeouts.
Lake County scored two in the top of the first and Crofoot countered in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run.
CLC extended its lead to 5-1 after three innings.
Jack Keck started the fifth with a triple and scored on Crofoot's second homer of the day. Josh Genz singled and was brought home on another two-run home run from Teran to tie it up 5-5.
Owen Cutinello earned a walk and Jaden Alberson came in to pinch run in the bottom of the sixth. Alberson stole second and advanced on an error to put himself in scoring position. Crofoot doubled to center field to take the first lead of the game.
The Lancers scored two in the seventh to take back the lead with the game resulting in an 8-6 final score.
Game 2: CLC 9, ECC 1
Matt Reuscher started on the mound, recording five strikeouts in 4.2 innings.
Elgin's sole run of the game came when Genz started the bottom of the second with a single and advanced to second on Patrick Nelson's sacrifice. Logan Riley hit the RBI single to bring Genz in to score.
Lake County scored five runs in the fifth and four in the seventh for the 9-1 final.
The Spartans host No. 14 McHenry for a doubleheader on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
