Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell in a pair of games to No. 4 Madison College on Sunday.
The Spartans move to 6-9 in their overall season.
Game 1: Madison 13, Elgin 3
Patrick Nelson led the team with two RBI as Alijah Acevedo recorded one. Acevedo, Erik Teran II and Gavin Crofoot scored the three runs on the day.
Frank Szymanski made the start on the mound and registered five strikeouts. Derek Okrie did not allow any runs in his 1.1 innings.
Madison scored three runs in the first inning and one in the third for an early lead.
Elgin tightened the game up to 4-3 with clutch RBI hits from Acevedo and Nelson.
The Wolfpack pulled away with eight runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to hand ECC the 13-3 loss.
Game 2: Madison 11, Elgin 0
Ryan Caccia, Jack Keck and Acevedo registered one hit on the day, with Acevedo's being a double.
Joe Becker and Andrew Shevlin allowed one hit but no runs during their pitching appearances.
The Spartans host Prairie State for their conference opener on Monday at 2 p.m.
