Baseball Clinches Road Win

River Forest, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team clinched a 13-7 victory over Concordia Chicago on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartans improve to 6-7 in their overall season.

Joe Becker earned the win, pitching one inning and recording three strikeouts.

Josh Genz, Logan Riley, Erik Teran II and Luke Bolender registered two runs on the day. Teran, Bolender, Charlie Jury and Alijah Acevedo tallied two RBI with Bolender hitting his first collegiate home run.

Concordia struck first with two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Bolender's homer to left put Elgin's first run on the board.

The Cougars extended their lead to 6-1 with two runs in the fourth and two in the seventh.

ECC popped off in the eighth inning with 11 runs to take the lead for the first time of the game.

Both teams scored one more run in the ninth inning for the 13-7 final score.

The Spartans host No. 4 Madison in their home opener on Monday.
