Baseball Outlasted at Aurora

Aurora, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell 21-10 to the Aurora University junior varsity team on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans move to 5-7 in the overall season.

Alijah Acevedo went 3-4 with a single, triple and a home run with two runs and two RBI. Gavin Crofoot was 2-2 with one run and three RBI. Andrew Sloan recorded a team-high three strikeouts.

Elgin scored in the first inning after Crofoot singled and Acevedo's pop fly allowed him to score. Aurora countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

ECC loaded the bases with walks and a double from Eli Johnson. Crofoot hit it into a sacrifice fly to bring two runs in and tie up the game 3-3 after two innings.

A triple from Acevedo followed by four walks scored two runs in the top of the third. Crofoot and Nate Euliano hit RBIs to extend the lead to 8-3.

Acevedo hit his first home run of the season in the next inning for a six-run advantage.

Aurora countered with eight runs to take the lead back at 11-9 and scored an additional run in the fifth.

Elgin scored one more run in the top of the seventh after three walks and an RBI from Owen Cutinello.

Aurora scored nine more runs to end the game early with a 21-10 final score.

The Spartans are back on the road to face Concordia Chicago on Wednesday.
