Baseball Wraps Up Florida Trip with Win

Davenport, Fla. - The Elgin Community College baseball team wrapped up its Florida trip with an 8-2 victory over Washington & Jefferson on Sunday night.

The Spartans improve to 4-5 on the season.

Alijah Acevedo led the pitching staff with 11 strikeouts in five innings to earn the win on the mound.

Nathan Euliano led the team with two runs on two hits and one RBI. Gavin Crofoot tallied two runs as Logan Riley, Erik Teran II, Scott Emma and Patrick Nelson each recorded one RBI.

Crofoot got the first inning rolling with a single followed by a single from Euliano. Nelson hit a sacrifice fly for Crofoot to score for the first run of the game. Riley hit it into an RBI single to push Euliano across home plate for a 2-0 advantage.

Josh Genz made his way on base in the fourth inning. He stole second and scored on an error for the third run of the game.

Washington & Jefferson socred two runs in the top of the sixth to tighten the game up to 3-2.

ECC had a huge five-run inning to extend the lead and capture the 8-2 victory.

The Spartans are on the road to face Rockford JV for a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2 p.m.
