Baseball Drops Two to No. 17 Delgado

Orlando, Fla. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell 11-1 and 5-2 to No. 17 Delgado on Wednesday night.

The Spartans move to 0-4 in their season.

Game One: Delgado 11, Elgin 1

Delgado struck early as they scored seven runs after three innings.

Elgin got on the board in the fourth after Erik Teran II, Luke Bolender and Jack Keck loaded up the bases. Josh Collins' patience at the plate earned him an RBI walk.

The Dolphins scored four more runs to end the game early with an 11-1 final score.

Game Two: Delgado 5, Elgin 2

Patrick Nelson led the team with one run, one RBI and one hit throughout the game. Alijah Acevedo recorded four strikeouts in 1.3 innings.

ECC put the first run on the board in the first inning after Gavin Crofoot and Charlie Jury earned walks. Nelson hit an RBI double to push Crofoot across home plate.

DCC scored three runs in the second and one in the third to take a 4-1 advantage.

Pat Nelson made his way on base from a walk in the top of the fourth inning. He advanced to second on a groundout and scored on his brother Ryan Nelson's double to right field for ECC's second run.

Delgado scored once more in the fifth for a 5-2 final score.

The Spartans face Holyoke and Mount Saint Joseph on Thursday at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla. at 3:45 and 7 p.m. CST.
