Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team finished April 5's game with a 6-0 win and fell 10-3 in game two.
The Spartans improve to 22-16 as the Owls move to 24-24.
Game 1: Elgin 6, Oakton 0
Erik Teran II registered the team-high three hits as Derek Angelo tallied two. Adrian Ruiz earned the win going all seven innings and striking out nine batters.
April 5: Nik Panico, Nick Schumann and Logan Riley loaded up the bases in the second inning. Teran hit an RBI-double to drive in two runs before play was suspended due to darkness.
Play continued on Monday in the fifth with Elgin driving in four runs in the bottom of the inning.
Angelo and Teran singled with Angelo scoring on Alijah Acevedo's RBI single. Eli Johnson hit it into an RBI double to bring Teran home before Nathan Euliano hit a two-run single to center field.
Neither team scored again as Elgin clinched the 6-0 shutout.
Game 2: Oakton 10, Elgin 3
Panico led the way with two hits as Acevedo, Johnson, Riley, Emma and Euliano registered one apiece. Ruiz tallied five strikeouts in two innings.
Panico hit his sixth home run of the season to put a run on the board in the first inning.
Oakton scored two runs in the third and four in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Johnson singled and Acevedo walked and both advanced one base on a wild pitch. Scott Emma hit a two-run single to tighten the game up at 6-3.
The Owls scored four runs in the seventh to extend its lead to 10-3.
The Spartans host Joliet Junior College for a single game on Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m.
