Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team won 18-13 over Harper College on Thursday.
The Spartans move to 15-12 as the Hawks dip to 6-27.
Derek Angelo and Logan Riley registered the team-high of four hits with Nik Panico scoring four runs. Eli Johnson and Luis Rodriguez tallied three RBI.
Elgin took an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Panico walked, Schumann singled and Angelo hit it into a one-run double. Johnson singled to push Angelo home for the third run.
Harper scored five runs in the third inning to take the lead at 5-3.
ECC countered in the bottom of the inning, starting things off with two walks. Panico scored on a wild pitch and Nick Schumann and Angelo hit his second one-run double of the day. Johnson and Riley each hit RBI singles to make it a 7-5 game.
The Hawks found a big inning to lead 11-7 in the top of the fourth.
Rodriguez, Panico and Schumann loaded the bases with Panico scoring on Erik Teran's single and Johnson's double bringing Schumann home to tighten the deficit to 11-9.
The Spartans tied it up in the fifth inning with two runs. Riley and Emma hit back-to-back singles with Riley advancing to third on Emma's hit. He scored on Rodriguez's groundout and Emma would later score on a wild pitch.
Harper put another two runs on the board in the top of the seventh for a 13-11 advantage.
Elgin pulled off the win with seven runs in the eighth inning. Angelo and Teran singled as Nathan Euliano brought them both home with a double to right field. Riley hit the game-winning single with a line drive to center field.
Rodriguez hit a two RBI double and Panico hit a two-run homer to wrap up the game with the 18-13 victory.
The Spartans travel to River Grove, Ill. to face Triton in a pair of games beginning at 2 p.m.
