Crystal Lake, Ill. - The Elgin Community College fell 4-0 in game one before winning 7-2 in game two at McHenry on Tuesday.
The Spartans improve to 12-12 overall and 5-4 in Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference (ISCC) play as the Scots move to 25-9 and 11-1.
Game 1: McHenry 4, Elgin 0
Eli Johnson, Luis Rodriguez and Lorenzo Ranallo recorded hits with Justin Zimmerman striking out five batters.
The Scots scored two runs in the first and sixth innings for the four runs of the game.
Game 2: McHenry 2, Elgin 7
Johnson and Scott Emma recorded the team-high of two hits as Rodriguez, Derek Angelo and Logan Riley each tallied one apiece. Nik Panico earned the win after five minnings on the mound and striking out five batters.
McHenry took an early lead, scoring one run in the first inning.
Emma singled in the third inning and scored on Rodriguez's double to right field to tie up the game.
Elgin went off in the fifth inning as they brought in six runs.
Johnson singled, stole second and advanced to third from Riley's single. Johnson scored off of a passed ball. Emma singled and Riley scored off of Rodriguez's fielder's choice for the third run.
Panico loaded the bases afer getting hit by a pitch and the next two runs came from walks. Rodriguez and Panico scored on wild pitches to score the sixth and seventh runs.
MCC scored once more in the sixth inning before suffering the 7-2 loss.
The Spartans travel to Chicago Heights, Ill. to face Prairie State on Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m.
