Elgin, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team swept Waubonsee 5-3 and 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans improve to 11-11 as the Chiefs dip to 8-21.

Alijah Acevedo earned the win from the mound, striking out five hitters and allowing two hits and two runs over five innings. Jon Howard recorded the last four outs to earn the save.
Nick Schumann led the team with three RBI as he, Scott Emma, Nik Panico and Logan Riley each collected one hit.
Schumann hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning for an early lead.
Waubonsee scored one run in the third and fifth innings to tie it up at 2-2.
Elgin loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth and scored three runs off of back-to-back walks and a sacrifice fly.
WCC scored an additional run in the sixth for the 5-3 final score.

Frank Szymanski earned the win with three strikeouts in five innings. Logan Riley recorded the team-high two hits as six players recorded one hit on the day.
Luis Rodriguez started off the bottom of the first by getting hit, stealing second and advancing to third on a wild pitch. Schumann hit it into an RBI-single and followed Rodriguez by also stealing second and advanced to third on Derek Angelo's single. Erik Terran II doubled to right field for both of the runners to cross home plate.
Nik Panico hit a solo homerun in the second inning for the fourth run of the day.
Logan Riley tripled to start out the fifth inning and scored on Eli Johnson's sacrifice fly.
The team held Waubonsee scoreless through the remainder of the game to hold onto the 5-0 victory.
The Spartans travel to Chicago Heights on Monday to face Prairie State beginning at 2 p.m.
