South Holland, Ill. - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell 9-7 and 15-5 to South Suburban on Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans dip to 7-6 as the Bulldogs improve to 18-11.
Game 1: South Suburban 9, Elgin 7
Eli Johnson, Erik Teran II and Nik Panico each registered two hits. Panico, Logan Riley and Nick Schumann drove in two RBIs apiece.
Elgin put the first run on the board in the first inning after Panico tripled and advanced home on Derek Angelo's sacrifice fly.
South Suburban tallied two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.
Lorenzo Ranallo and Luis Rodriguez got on base with singles and advanced one on a balk. Panico hit a two-run single to left field to wrap the top of the third inning.
The Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the inning for the 5-3 advantage.
ECC loaded the bases in the fourth after a double from Johnson, a walk from Rodriguez and Panico getting hit by a pitch. Schumann drove in an additional two runs with his double to left field.
South Sub took the lead for good after scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Spartans tacked on an additional two runs with a two-run homer from Riley in the top of the fifth.
Game 2: South Suburban 15, Elgin 5
ECC was not able to recover from South Suburban's 8-0 lead after two innings, despite its five runs in the third inning.
Five walks brought in two runs followed by an additional three when Teran's pop fly produced an error.
South Sub continued to drive in runs to end the game in the sixth inning with a 15-5 loss for Elgin.
The Spartans host Morton on Monday at 2 p.m.
