Loves Park, Ill., - The Elgin Community College baseball team fell 3-4 in game one but recovered with a 16-1 win over the Rockford junior varsity team on Tuesday.
The Spartans move to 6-3 overall on the season.
Game 1: Elgin 3, Rockford JV 4
Rockford took an early lead, scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning.
Alijah Acevedo singled, advanced to second on a balk and to third from a wild pitch. Frank Szymanski drove him in with a single to tie up the game.
Szymanski stole second and advanced to third on Eli Johnson's ground out to the short stop. Luis Rodriguez recorded an RBI-single to wrap up the top of the second.
The Regents made it a 2-2 game in the third inning. Johnson took back the lead after earning a walk, advancing to second on a wild pitch, stealing third and then scoring on a passed ball.
Rockford tied it up again at 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth and scored a walk-off double in the seventh to clinch the win.
Game 2: Elgin 16, Rockford JV 1
Nik Panico earned the win with two innings on the mound. He recorded three strikeouts and allowed three hits.
Logan Riley drove in runs on a single in the first, a home run in the second, and a single in the seventh to lead the team with four RBI.
ECC scored eight runs in the seventh inning with Riley, Johnson, Erik Teran, Graham Rachow and Carter Askew driving the runs in.
The Spartans travel to Menomonee Falls, Wis. to face Bryant & Stratton in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2 p.m.
