Baseball student-athlete Jack Kerno, golfer Jake Russell and tennis player Amelia Stoner have earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must have participated in at least 90 percent of the team's competitions, with at least a 3.50 grade point average. Nominees must have completed a full calendar year at the current institution and must be of at least sophomore status academically and athletically.
Kerno graduated with a 3.69 grade point average and multiple academic honors, including Academic All-Conference, Academic All-Region as well as being named to the Elgin Community College President's, Dean's and Honors Lists. He finished his ECC baseball career with a slew of accolades: Second Team All-American, First and Second Team All-Region, 2x First Team All-Conference and he earned the National Junior College Athletic Assoication (NJCAA) Division II ABCA/Rawlings 2024 Gold Glove.
He was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Kerno will continue his academic and baseball career at NCAA Division II University of Indianapolis.
Russell completed his two years at ECC with a 3.85 GPA and as a core member of the golf team. He finished as a top-10 golfer in the ISCC to earn All-Conference accolades for the 2024 season. Russell was named to ECC's President's List and Dean's List twice while also earning Academic All-Region and Academic All-Conference honors.
Stoner graduated with a 3.80 grade point average after earning academic accolades including the ECC President's and Dean's List and being twice named to the Academic All-Region and Academic All-Conference lists. She most commonly competed at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles in 2023 and at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles in 2024's competition.
